Growing community rowing in London

Cornish Pilot Gig rowing is the UK’s fastest growing rowing sport, appealing to everyone regardless of age, gender, fitness level or experience. It is at the heart of many coastal Cornish communities, but has grown to over 70 clubs including several in the Netherlands and even as far away as Bermuda.

To help even more people of all ages and backgrounds enjoy regular rowing exercise, and to experience the excitement and sense of achievement of gig-rowing, LCPGC is raising money to fund a new GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) gig. This sturdy and stable boat, ideal for people wanting to try out the sport, will be moored at Richmond, so increasing open rowing opportunities for those in the west of London.

We are seeking help from individuals, corporates and charitable organisations to realise our vision of helping more people gain the benefits of regular rowing. All donations will be gratefully received  – so please do let us know us if you would like to give Cornish Pilot Gig rowing a try, either individually, as a team building exercise or just a unique family or friends experience. Last year we trained two crews from insurer AIG to successfully row across the Channel.
